I hate this...you are working away and Access dies. I mean dies. It just shuts down. No apparent reason, and nothing you are doing seems to have caused it.

This happened to me a little while ago. I was typing code and in a blink Access was gone.

There's that sinking feeling. Your stomach sinks to the bottom of the ocean and you feel sick...CORRUPTION.

So what next. Well, thankfully, there didn't seem to be any major problem. I repaired it just to be sure, recompiled, rebuilt and everything seems ok.

So why did it happen?

I don't have the faintest, and that is scary. This is a huge project and mission critical to the client. It has to be right. So what next?

Well, there is nothing else I can do but to continue and keep a look out for ongoing problems. I wish I had a better answer, but this is the world of software development...it is not perfect and never will be.

I use File Hamster to backup my files regularly. It works in the background without hogging the CPU. It is easy to use and features a number of great customizable features.
