In my job as a QA Manager in the automotive industry I have the duty of visiting my customers. What I do while I am there is log any parts that they couldn't use, rejects for the most part. Currently I use a paper form to log in traceability info per part number which is pretty pain staking in itself, but then once I am back in the office I have to enter all the data into a simple DB that was created for me. It is one table, one form, multi queries for multi reports.
Does anyone have any experience with using a mobile device that can be used for field entry and later load data to MS?
Direct access only with Terminal Server. That works well and no risk in corrupting your database if you lose the connection.
A separate database and for data entry in field and later synch with a main database yes, but on a laptop only. You just need to consider the synch process. If no one editing in the office then it is easy. If edits both ends then an issue.
Ask ant specific question if you like and I may be able to help.
Patrick, THANKS!!
